Background
If you have a system engineering background in Meteorological and/or Earth Observation systems, and are looking to utilise and develop your skills in a dynamic organisation, then we'd love to hear from you!

Based at Europe's Meteorological Satellite Agency (EUMETSAT) you shall work as part of the system team on our MTG programme. MTG is a six satellite programme, involving space and ground segment development, with the aim of providing imaging and sounding data from 2021 to the late 2030's.

Whilst a management position this will remain a role with 'hands-on' engineering responsibilities including; the definition, preparation, planning, follow-up and implementation of the System Assembly, Integration, and Verification activities (AIV)

This is a challenging and rewarding position responsible for leading multiple teams of AIV engineers and specialists.

Experience Required
Along with a university degree (or equivalent) in engineering, you shall ideally have skills/experience in each of the following areas:

  • Strong system engineering background in Meteorological and/or Earth Observation systems.
  • Experience in the development lifecycle of a complex space system ground segment (and/or subsystem) is required including integration and verification, as well as in supervising their procurement or development.
  • Competence and experience in managing requirements, their maintenance, traceability, verification and validation stages using formal methods and tools (e.g. DOORs).
  • Knowledge of system engineering standards especially those relevant to the area of Verification and Testing, in particular ECSS with up-to-date knowledge of methods and tools.
  • Experience in leading cross organisational teams, with strong interpersonal and team working skills
  • Ability to adapt to complex situations, with strengths in analysis, synthesis and presentation of complex problems and solutions.
  • Sound problem solving/analysis and monitoring skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to apply these to working within, and across, teams as well as a customer-oriented approach.

Jason-CS Senior System Engineer

Take advantage of this attractive opportunity and support the Jason-CS programme at Europe's Meteorological Satellite Agency (EUMETSAT)
The Jason-CS programme involves EUMETSAT, ESA, NASA, NOAA and the EU, and is a high precision ocean altimetry programme with two satellites planned for launch in 2020 and 2026.
This is a challenging and rewarding senior engineering role offering the opportunity for system level coordination and ground segment development tasks. Reporting to the Jason-CS System Manager, you shall be responsible for the coordination of system engineering activities related to the programme. This is a hands-on role often requiring a pro-active and resourceful approach.

Experience Required
Along with a university degree in science or engineering, you shall ideally have skills/experience in each of the following areas:

  • Proven and comprehensive experience in system engineering and development;
  • Demonstrated experience of translating operations concepts into satellite and ground segment operational requirements and PUS specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience of producing system design documents such as Interface Control Documents and trade-off analyses;
  • Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS Standards (with particular focus on PUS and spacecraft on-board procedure development)
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, with the ability to interact at all levels.
